Joel Androphy Offers Pro Bono Legal Counsel in Exchange for Young Men to Volunteer Their Time to The Church
Joel Androphy knew he could not stand by and do nothing when economic injustices were happening to people all around him. The problem was they did not have any money to use for legal support. Joel had an idea and went to pastor Pastor Harvey Clemons Jr (a baptist minister in Houston fifth ward) and then set up a program to give high quality pro bono legal services to young men in need. The only things he requires of them are their time and energy. In just two years, the program has become so successful that it was awarded the Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award by the Houston Bar Association and the Harris County Judiciary.
